Hope in a Dark Place

It is a dark place when we feel there is no hope to continue living. For most, this lack of hope comes when one or more of the following emotional needs are not being met:
Approval - To be declared good, satisfactory, and pleasing; receiving confirmation.
Acceptance - To be wanted and willingly received by others.
Attention - For someone to notice and give thought to you.
Affirmation - To receive reinforcement of your value through a positive or uplifting experience.
Affection - To feel fondness, tenderness; goodwill, warmth of attachment from others.
Application - To feel your work or actions have use or purpose.
Assurance - To feel secure and certain about your current place in life.
When these needs are not being met, feelings of loneliness, abandonment, and depression can cause you to believe this lie, "My life is no longer worth living." When life seems the darkest, please know that you can find hope today!
Psalm 139:17 - "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!..."
God knows what you are going through. Psalm 139:2-3 tells us that God knows, understands, and is "acquainted with" your problems. You don't have to feel alone. No matter what has happened in your life, you can be sure of these three things:
God Loves You. His love is different than any other kind of love. His loving is willing to sacrifice Himself to make your life better. (John 3:16, 10:10)
God Will Never Leave You. His presence is a promise to give "...help in time of need." (Heb. 4:16). Your darkest place is not too far from God. Psalm 139:8, "If I ascend up into heaven, behold, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, thou art there."
God Will Give Your Life Purpose. He has a reason you were born. You are not an accident or a mistake. Psalm 139:14, "...for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:..." gives your life purpose no matter what you might currently think about yourself.
